The Perfect Summer: A Bucket List

The Perfect Summer: A Bucket List

Summer Bucket List by RB

We've got a feeling this summer is going to be one for the books... We asked what you were looking forward to this summer on Instagram @rylanboutique and the answers did not disappoint! We've compiled a list of all your answers as well as some of our own for a truly PERFECT summer. Now, let's take a look at the bucket list:

1. Have a Picnic

It's pretty obvious that 2021 is the year of the picnic because we've been seeing them EVERYWHERE -- and for good reason! Grab your friends, a large blanket, takeout, and set up your very own in the park or at the beach. Bonus points for bringing card games or a book to read!

2. Run a 5K Marathon

Not only great for your body, but running a 5K is also a great way to spend time outside with your community! Find out what marathons are happening in your area and invite your loved ones to join you for even more fun.

3. Take a Phone Detox

How many times do you open your phone in a day? Summer is the perfect opportunity to unplug and recharge. Challenge yourself to go an entire 24 hours without picking up your phone.

4. Make a Summer Playlist

What's summer without good music? Update a current playlist or start from scratch on a playlist you can use all summer long! Not sure what songs to add? Ask your friends for help!

5. Play Cornhole

Cornhole can be played with 2-4 players. The first team to reach 21 points wins! You are awarded 3 points if the bag goes through the hole and 1 point if it lands on the board. If you love a good project, take it a step further and DIY your own!

6. Make Fresh Squeezed Lemonade

Try your hand at homemade lemonade on an especially hot day this summer. All you need is a couple lemons, some sugar, and a citrus juicer. Extra points for adding mint leaves! Click here for the recipe

7. Attend a Fitness Class

Yoga, cycling, dance, HIIT, barre, and more -- the options are endless! No matter what you choose, you'll be sure to leave better than you came. Plus, who doesn't love endorphins?

8. Try Embroidery

9. Go on a Trip to the Lake

If you're from Utah like us, we'll definitely be spending some time at Lake Powell! Wherever you are, find a nearby lake for some fun in the sun! Boating, hanging out with family/friends, and making lifelong memories...

10. Movie Night

Nothing beats a cozy night spent watching your favorite movies. Get ready by hanging lights, pulling out lots of blankets and pillows, popping popcorn, and grabbing some licorice from your local gas station! If you have a projector, hang a bed sheet up and watch your movie that way. If not, a laptop works great too!

11. Learn a New Skill

Do some research in your local area and find out what classes are happening this summer. Whether you're interested in pottery, baking, floral design, or even becoming a yoga instructor, chances are there is a class happening near you!

12. Do a Thru-Hike

Have you ever heard of the Pacific Crest Trail? While this intense thru-hike requires 5 months to complete, there are likely much shorter thru-hikes available in your area. Find out what trails are near you and grab some friends to join you on a week long adventure!

13. Do a Random Act of Kindness

Pay for the person behind you in the drive-thru, doorbell ditch flowers, leave a great google review for a local business you love, send a postcard, buy lemonade from your neighbor's lemonade stand, pick up trash on your hike, or leave a surprise in your mailbox for your mail carrier -- The possibilities are endless!

14. Top Golf

15. Go Camping

Make sure to check the weather before you go and don't forget a flashlight! If you typically camp with a tent, we suggest trying a hammock. We love the double sized hammocks for a more comfortable and roomy experience!

16. Tie Dye

Matching bucket hat and socks? Yes, Please! Your local craft store or Walmart are great places to look for blank apparel and to purchase dye. Click here for the tutorial.

17. Attend a Concert

Justin Bieber concert? A definite must! Do some research and book tickets to your favorite artists this summer for an experience you'll never forget.

18. Play Croquet

19. Bake a Dessert from Scratch

Make your grandma proud with a delicious homemade dessert. Keep it simple with M&M cookies or test your skill with a triple berry pie! Click here for our favorite recipe.

20. Read a Book

21. Grow a Herb Garden

Herbs have been used for centuries topically, medicinally, and for cooking! They are also the perfect plants to start with if you're new to gardening. Click here for the how-to.

22. Go to a Drive-In Movie

23. Go Tubing

There's no better way to spend a hot summer day than by floating down the river while enjoying good company and taking in the beautiful scenery.

24. Order a Snow Cone

Head on over to your nearest snow cone shack for a tasty treat. Extra points for riding your bike there!

25. Watch the Sunrise

26. Look at Constellations

End your summer night by stargazing! There are plenty of apps available to assist you in naming/recognizing constellations by simply pointing your phone camera at the sky. Here's our pick: SkyView.

27. Take a Road Trip

28. Go to the Farmer's Market

If you take a walk through the farmer's market, you'll likely find music playing, beautiful flowers, vegetables, hand-made works by resident artisans, and delicious smells and tastes from local vendors. Our local market is open every Saturday morning from May through October, but check your area to see when your market is open!

29. Go on a Breakfast Date

There is something so comforting about catching up with loved ones over breakfast at your favorite eatery. Laughing, telling stories, and enjoying good food -- That's what summer is all about!

30. Paint Something

This fun activity has been trending on TikTok and we're here for it! We've seen everything from old sneakers, plant pots, cards, and canvases being painted... What're you waiting for?

Cheers to the best summer yet! XO, RB
